Catastrophic Boiler Failure
Multiple and Complex Injuries Compensation Claims Solicitors.
Sustaining any sort of injury can have a big impact on your life, both short term and long term.
It can be even more devastating when the accident could have been avoided were it not for somebody else’s negligence. It is often the case that serious accidents result in more than one type of injury, for example a road traffic accident could cause broken bones as well as a brain injury.
Sometimes the injuries occur at the same time, and sometimes further injuries can occur many months, or even years, later which are directly attributable to the accident. For example, you may be involved in a car accident and suffer from back pain in the future. Many people who have been involved in a catastrophic accident also go on to suffer from a psychological injury such as post-traumatic stress disorder.
In cases where there are multiple injuries, the healing time is often longer, and the individual will usually need to see several different specialists in order to receive the best treatment. Naturally this will involve a lot of hospital appointments, which means taking time off work, arranging transportation, and perhaps having to find childcare, which can all be disruptive to daily life.
Here at Lanyon Bowdler we understand the devastating impact that multiple injuries can have on you and your family. Claiming compensation is often the last thing on your mind as you focus on treatment and rehabilitation, but the money awarded to you can help to cover the costs associated with your recovery.
If you have been involved in an accident which wasn’t your fault, and you have been left with mixed injuries, we can help you to claim the compensation you deserve. Speak to our friendly and empathetic team today who will be happy to advise you on the best course of action.
What is a Multiple Injury Claim?
The term ‘multiple injury claim’ refers to a legal case in which compensation is recovered for an individual who has suffered more than one injury in an accident that wasn’t their fault. Multiple injuries could include wounds, fractures, breaks, illnesses, and psychological injuries sustained in different parts of the body due to the same accident. The effects of multiple injuries can often be severe, and sometimes life-long.
Multiple injuries could include the following:
- Head injuries
- Brain injuries
- Breaks and fractures
- Facial injuries
- Cuts and lacerations
- Back injuries
- Musculoskeletal injuries
- Internal organ injuries
- Psychological injuries
- Burn injuries
- Scarring
If you have sustained an injury to multiple parts of your body, one of the injuries has left a permanent scar, your injuries have caused a long term health condition, or you have suffered a psychological injury, you may be able to claim multiple injury compensation. Our specialist personal injury lawyers can help you with all aspects of your claim, as well as providing any additional help and guidance you may need to facilitate your recovery.

Your Multiple & Complex Injury Claims Questions Answered
All road users owe a duty of care to other road users to behave in a manner that keeps themselves and others safe whilst using the roads. The Highway Code outlines what is expected of motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians using roads throughout the UK, and whilst it is not a legal document itself, much of what is contained in The Highway Code is backed up by UK law.
Accidents can happen when people do not adhere to the rules of the road, for example if they don’t stop at a red light, or drive whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs. A road traffic accident (RTA) can often lead to some or all of those involved sustaining multiple injuries, such as whiplash, cuts and bruises, and broken bones
Vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists are most at risk of sustaining multiple serious injuries in an accident. The risk of serious injury is slightly less for the driver and passengers inside the vehicle, but they can still experience multiple injuries like lower back pain, shoulder strain, and psychological injuries such as PTSD.
If you have sustained multiple injuries after being involved in a road traffic collision which wasn’t your fault, you may be entitled to claim compensation from the responsible party. Our experienced team of personal injury solicitors will be happy to discuss your situation so please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 all employers have a duty of care to ensure the safety of their employees whilst they carry out their work. Therefore if you sustain multiple injuries in an accident at work, your employer may be liable for compensation.
The law states that employers must carry out regular risk assessments to ensure the safety of the workplace, and take measures to eradicate or minimise any potential risks. This includes providing up to date training, appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and providing signage to warn of potential hazards such as wet floors or loose electrical wiring.
Some of the most common types of workplace accident that can lead to multiple injuries include:
- Slips, trips, and falls
- Manual handling e.g. lifting and carrying
- Being struck by moving object
- Falls from height
- Violent acts
- Colliding with a stationary object
- Contact with moving machinery
- Being struck by moving vehicle
If your employer has breached their duty of care to you and it has resulted in an accident which has caused multiple injuries, you may be able to claim compensation. In order for your claim to be successful we will need to provide evidence that they owed you a duty of care and that their negligence caused or directly contributed to the accident in which you were injured. Our experienced and highly qualified personal injury solicitors are able to answer any questions you may have, so please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Being involved in an accident and suffering from multiple injuries will always have an impact on many aspects of your life, both in the short term and long term. Some of the ways in which multiple injuries could impact your life include:
- Family life – depending on the type and severity of your injuries you may become reliant on your partner or children to care for you, which can put a strain on your relationships. You may also require outside help from carers or other family members while you rest and heal.
- Social life – recovering from multiple injuries takes time, and it may not be possible to engage in your usual hobbies and social engagements for quite some time whilst your body heals.
- Work life – in most cases it is necessary for the individual to take time off work after their accident, and some people may even need to give up work altogether or change their job due to loss of mobility, for example.
- Financial – being involved in an accident which causes multiple injuries can impact you financially as you may need to take extended leave from work, and cover the costs of private treatment, prescriptions, travel to and from hospital appointments, and pay for adaptations to your home and vehicle, depending on the type of injuries.
- Mental health – sustaining multiple injuries can impact your mental health, for example many people experience depression, anxiety, isolation, and frustration due to being unable to go to work or do the things they love. Post-traumatic stress disorder can also occur shortly after the incident, or several months or years later.
Sustaining multiple injuries in an accident will always have a devastating impact on your life, but the impact can feel heightened if the accident could have been prevented. If you have been injured in an accident that occurred due to somebody else’s negligence, we can help you to claim the compensation you deserve.
What our clients say.
Time Limits on Making a Multiple Injury Claim and Funding Options
In general, the time limit for bringing a multiple injury claim is three years from the date of the injury or the ‘date of knowledge’ of the injury (to cover situations where the impacts of an injury surface at a future time).
However, if a child sustains an injury, due to an accident caused by the actions or negligence of another party, the time limit will usually expire on their 21st birthday unless the child never gains mental capacity due to their injuries, in which case the time limits do not apply.
We can support your multiple injury claim through a range of funding options, including our No Win No Fee Injury Claim promise, as well as through private funding, and legal expenses insurance. Our solicitors will consider whether we can handle your multiple injury claim on a No Win No Fee basis at the point of an initial evaluation of the circumstance surrounding your injury.
