Profile / Experience
Dawn is a partner and head of the Personal Injury Department at Lanyon Bowdler where she has practised since 1997.
She believes in empathy, understanding and commitment and will personally see all clients, providing them with both home and hospital visits where necessary. Dawn will also work closely with the Midland Centre for Spinal Injuries through our Oswestry Office.
Dawn works predominantly for claimants, including children and those with capacity issues. She specialises in serious and catastrophic brain and spinal accidents arising from RTA and work (involving health and safety liability issues) which result in damages in excess of six figures. Whilst these life altering injuries are devastating, Dawn strongly believes that this should not prevent anyone from persuing their goals. She is passionate about rebuilding confidence and independence.
Dawn also acts in road traffic and occupier’s liability cases as well as industrial disease cases, (eg vibration white finger, asbestosis, industrial asthma).
She also has a number of high profile work related stress cases, including post traumatic stress, and secondary victim claims, ie innocent bystanders.
Dawn has a specialism in military claims, including PTSD and personal injury (particularly back and spinal injuries) that occur both within the UK and during tours of duty overseas. She advises in Armed Forces Compensation Scheme (AFCS) claims and cold weather injuries (NCFCI), heat illness and amputation cases.
Dawn jointly hosted our national conference, ‘Surviving Spinal Injury – The Journey’ which was held at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital, Gobowen, Oswestry.
Dawn is particularly committed to ensuring that clients not only get the best possible financial result in obtaining early funding for care provision and access to specialist treatment, but she also considers appropriate and accessible housing and adaptations as a priority. She values the need for early rehabilitation, case management and vocational support and feels privileged to work in an experienced Multi Disciplinary Team that takes a holistic approach, with the client’s wishes and needs at the heart of decision making.
Dawn is committed to using mediation as an alternative to trial in dispute resolution and utilises it to avoid the need for stressful protracted expensive litigation.
Dawn is happy to take over cases from other firms or review files where additional specialism is required, the Claimant is dissatisfied or injuries have not yet been fully maximised. She is flexible and approachable and always willing to discuss interesting cases.
