Case Study

Severn Bridges Multi Academy Trust, Shrewsbury.

Published on 2 Jul 2024

Lanyon Bowdler supported the conversion of two Federated schools to join our Multi Academy Trust. The work also included updating the Trust’s Articles, Master Funding Agreement as well as each school’s Supplemental Funding agreements.

The support has allowed us to successfully complete two conversions at the same time within the DFE allocated timespan. The two new schools converted in April 2024 to be part of the MAT. We are now enjoying working with our new schools.

What does the client say?

The communication at each stage of the process was vital to ensure the Trust were in a position to complete the documentation required by the DFE and Local Authority.

We also greatly valued the flexibility shown by Lanyon Bowdler to meet requirements as they arose. Our case had some more complex arrangements such as a tuition unit on site that was part of the conversion. This required a specific site visit which was completed making the conversion run smoothly.

We have worked successfully with Lanyon Bowdler to complete the setting up of our Multi Academy Trust, as well as the recent conversion of two new joining schools. The work has been conducted professionally in both cases.

We would recommend the firm for converting to academy status or changing required legislative documents. We are currently working with the firm again on completing deeds of variation for one or more of our schools.
